Third Time Winning DEKRA Green Award for Risi Competizione
Tuesday, August 2, 2016

Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTLM No. 62 driven by Giancarlo Fisichella (ITA) and Toni Vilander (FIN) won the DEKRA Green Racing Award at Lime Rock Park July 23rd . This is the third win for the team during the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, after being awarded the trophy at Sebring International Raceway and Watkins Glen International this season.

“We are pleased to have a pattern of winning the DEKRA Award in IMSA competition,” said Dave Sims, Risi Competizione team manager. “The Lime Rock presentation makes it three official DEKRA Awards this year, added to four last year. It proves the efficiency of our Ferrari 488 race car.”

“It’s getting comfortable standing on the podium next to Dave [Risi’s team manager],” said Don Nicholson, president and CEO of DEKRA North America. “Clearly, the Ferrari 488 GTLM races extremely efficient. We’re proud to present to a car that is running fast and clean.”

The scoring system was developed between IMSA, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Department of Transportation (DOT), and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The Green scores are calculated each lap of the race from data provided by the timing and scoring system plus the observed energy consumption – or fuel used – of each car from refueling tank sensors.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Receives DEKRA Green Award for Mobil 1 Win

While at Lime Rock, DEKRA had the opportunity to present the DEKRA Green Racing Award to Chip Ganassi, owner of the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team, and Mike Hull, Managing Director, for their win at the Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix on July 10th

“It was a great honor to present the DEKRA Green Racing Award to one of the most recognizable figures in the racing world,” said Don Nicholson, president and CEO of DEKRA North America.

DEKRA has presented a second award to the manufacturer or team owner whenever possible. This is the first year Ganassi’s Ford team has raced in the GTLM category, making it a valid participant for the DEKRA Green Racing Award.
